Work Officially Underway Inside Spotify Camp Nou

Spotify Camp Nou, the iconic home of FC Barcelona, is undergoing a major transformation as part of the Espai Barça project, which aims to create a modern and sustainable sports complex for the club and its fans. The renovation work inside the stadium officially began on June 1, 2023, after the 2022/23 season ended. The work inside Spotify Camp Nou will involve demolishing the existing stands and building new ones with improved visibility and comfort.

The stadium will also increase its capacity from 99,354 to 105,000 spectators, making it the largest football stadium in Europe.

The new Spotify Camp Nou will also feature a retractable roof, a 360-degree video screen, and a state-of-the-art sound and lighting system. The renovation work inside Spotify Camp Nou is expected to last until November 2024, when the stadium will be closed to the public. However, FC Barcelona will continue to play its home matches at Spotify Camp Nou, as the work will be done in phases and will not affect the pitch or the seating areas.

The Espai Barça project also includes the construction of a new Palau Blaugrana for basketball and other sports, a new Estadi Johan Cruyff for the women’s team and the youth teams, a new Barça Campus for the club’s offices and services, and a new Barça Museum and Experience Center.

The project’s total cost is estimated at €815 million, financed by a combination of club resources, sponsorships, and loans.

The Espai Barça project is designed to enhance the club’s identity, values, and social commitment and generate more revenue and opportunities for its members and fans. The project also aims to boost the urban development and economic activity of the Les Corts district, where Spotify Camp Nou is located.

FC Barcelona’s President Joan Laporta said:

“We are very excited to start the work inside Spotify Camp Nou, which is the heart and soul of our club. This is a historic moment for FC Barcelona and all our supporters worldwide. We are creating a new Spotify Camp Nou that will be a source of pride and inspiration for future generations.”

Spotify’s Chief Content Officer Dawn Ostroff said:

“We are honored to be part of this ambitious project that will transform Spotify Camp Nou into a world-class venue for music and sports. Spotify and FC Barcelona share a vision of empowering people through audio and creating unforgettable experiences. We look forward to seeing how Spotify Camp Nou will shine with our innovative technology and content.”
