Bill Gates Just Shared 34 Favorite Songs on Spotify

Bill Gates has shared his 34 favourite songs on Spotify for the summer of 2023. The list is incredibly varied and includes songs by Adele, U2, Bob Marley, The Monkees, Maroon 5, and Vampire Weekend. There are also tunes by Willie Nelson and Louis Armstrong. The playlist includes many of his favourites—songs newer and older that have stuck with him over the years.

Minda Zetlin from Inc.com says, “Many of the songs on Gates’ list have one striking quality in common: They’re all upbeat.

Bill Gates himself said about his playlist:

I’ve been listening to a lot of Vampire Weekend lately. They’re one of my favourite bands, and I’m excited to see them on tour this summer.

“I’ve always loved Willie Nelson’s music. He’s an amazing songwriter and performer. I’m a big fan of Adele’s music. Her voice is incredible, and she writes really powerful songs. I’ve been listening to a lot of Louis Armstrong lately. He’s one of the greatest musicians of all time.”

Sharing favourite songs can be a way for people to connect with others and share their interests. According to an article from Slate:

“Brain imaging studies show that our favourite songs stimulate the brain’s pleasure circuit, which releases an influx of dopamine, serotonin, oxytocin, and other neurochemicals that make us feel good.”

In addition, sharing music can be a way for people to express themselves and their emotions. According to an article from Psychology Today, “One school of thought is that our favourite music is largely due to its emotional impact.”

The playlist has been well-received by fans of Gates and Spotify alike. Many people have praised the selection of songs and said they find them inspiring and uplifting. Some people have even said that they’ve been able to use the playlist to stay motivated during difficult times.

It’s worth noting that this isn’t the first time that Gates has shared his favourite music with the world. In 2017, he shared his favourite books and songs on his blog. The list included books like “The Heart” by Maylis de Kerangal and “Born a Crime” by Trevor Noah as well as songs like “How Can You Mend a Broken Heart” by Al Green and “Blue Skies” by Willie Nelson.
